  2. This photograph illustrates the 
  3. principle of motion parallax: 
  4. when we move, the nearer an 
  5. object is to us, the more it 
  6. appears to move.

  8. Still another possible source of 
  9. information about depth that is 
  10. eliminated in the dark-room 
  11. experiment is motion parallax
  12. --motion on the part of the 
  13. observer. The nearer an object, 
  14. the more its direction (with 
  15. respect to the observer) 
  16. changes when the observer 
  17. moves, as can be seen in the 
  18. illustration to the left.
